The Aesthetic Group Gymnastics European Championship took place in Tallinn, Estonia, from 10 to 13 May 2018. In the junior competition, the only Bulgarian team taking part was the TEA Dance Sports Club junior team: Andzhela Krasteva, Anita Tsvetanova, Bilyana Useva, Irena Tsvetanova, Mikaela Branzelova, Maria Damova and Savina Velkova, coached by Teodora Gramatikova.
The TEA Dance Sports Club juniors performed wonderfully at the European Championship in Tallinn, finishing in 8th place out of 18 teams.
It was the first time the club and these girls had taken part in such a strong event.
Their goal of reaching the final was achieved, and they are extremely happy.
The chair of TEA Dance Sports Club thanks everyone who supported the girls:
"Bearing in mind that everything in this sport in Bulgaria is done without any support from those at the top, this achievement is simply wonderful for our small club and town. The very initiative of going to such a big event, and all the work it takes to get there – for the gymnasts and for me as organiser and coach – is enormous.
We are happy and pleased that we achieved the goal we came here for.
Thank you to Elin Pelin Municipality and Mayor Eng. Ivaylo Simeonov for their support, and to our sponsors Semmelrock Stein+Design and Glorient Investments. Thank you to Desislava Peycheva for coming as our judge. Thank you to the children for their hard work!"
Over these few days, besides the excitement and the training, the girls grew even closer and felt the atmosphere of top-level sport. They saw how much more work and persistence it takes to reach the top:
"We walked around Tallinn, went up a 123 m tower and saw the whole city, practised our Russian and English, found out what it's like to live eight to a room and that it's fun. We ate healthy food and were surprised to find it was enough, without snacking on loads of pretzel sticks, biscuits and chocolate afterwards
)
A competition like this gave all of us not only enjoyment and motivation, but also lots of little lessons we'll use from now on.
Thank you to everyone who watched and supported us!"
